KETOCONAZOLE

• Class: imidazole fungicidal agent.
• Broad spectrum of activity against many fungal species and good absorption.
• Used for treatment of superficial and systemic fungal infection.
• Not indicated in the treatment of fungal meningitis because it does not penetrate the cerebrospinal fluid.

INDICATION

• Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis; ringworm of the foot)
• Ringworm of the body (tinea corporis)
• Ringworm of the groin (tinea cruris; jock itch)
• Seborrheic dermatitis
• “Sun fungus” (tinea versicolor; pityriasis versicolor)
• Yeast infection of the skin (cutaneous candidiasis).
